Forrest Dunn Retirement Event:

Forrest Dunn speaks as his wife, Donna, looks on. "Thank you from my heart," he said to the crowd of some 200 attendees. Dunn was honored on Sunday, June 27 at a retirement event sponsored by the Friends of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum.

Zama Dexter: Retrospective & New Works, 2009 The opening reception for the "Retrospective & New Works" exhibit by Shreveport artist Zama Blanchard Dexter was held on May 17, 2009. The exhibit included new paintings, as well as an assemblage of past works from various private and museum collections. See more photos of this reception at Flickr.

John James Audubon Exhibit, 2009 Guests enjoy the opening reception for the John James Audubon Exhibit, Feb. 2, 2009.

Danny Heitman, author of Summer of Birds, poses with Nita Cole, LSEM curator, during the opening reception for the Audubon Exhibit. Mr. Heitman keynoted the opening with an address in the Museum auditorium. Later in the year, Louisiana Public Broadcasting aired a 30-minute documentary about Summer of Birds and Audubon’s time spent in Louisiana.

Friends President Amy Watkins and daughter Emma enjoy the opening of the Audubon event.

Lizzy Broughton and Noah Bounds present an Audubon education program.

Education coordinator conducts an Audubon Exhibit tour with a school group.

Master Falconer Francine Forrester talks with students in the Museum auditorium.

Ms. Forrester and Tirsa, her Harris hawk, were extremely popular with Audubon Exhibit attendees.
